Owing to its natural advantages resulting out of closeness to International shipping routes, and natural depth Vizhinjam port has potential to become a world class transhipment hub primarily for Indian Sub Continent Cargo (ISC) servicing entire India. The Project is structured in accordance with Viability Gap Funding (VGF) Scheme and Guidelines for Financial Support to Public Private Partnerships in Infrastructure. Vizhinjam International Seaport Limited (VISL) is a special purpose government company (fully owned by Government of Kerala) that would act as an implementing agency for the development of a greenfield port - Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multi purpose Seaport.

The aim of the project is to build a world class, state-of- the-art Metro rail system for the financial capital and nerve centre of Kochi that will not only facilitate rapid and easy passenger movement, but also will act as a catalyst for the urban renewal of the city of Kochi and its balanced development. Accessing jobs, education, livelihoods and other social needs from the outskirts into the business centre of the city would become less time consuming and quality of life will increase for the urban population. Built on a PPP model between the Centre and state governments, Kochi Metro has DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation) as the implementing agency and E Sreedharan, the man who single-handedly conceived the Delhi metro, as the principal advisor to the DMRC.

The Projects intends to introduce fully elevated Light Metro Rail systems in the cities of Thiruvananthapuram & Kozhikode, with the aim to ease the traffic congestion in the existing city roads and to provide an efficient public transport system for the residents of these cities. A Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) namely Kerala Rapid Transit Corporation Limited (KRTL) has been formed with Corporate office at Thiruvananthapuram and regional office at Kozhikode for implementation of the Light Metro Rail Projects.

The project intends to implement Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) to improve the public transport system from Thiruvananthapuram to chengannur which is a part of Thiruvananthapuram Division of Southern Railway. Project Specific SPV under the JVC of GoK and Ministry of Railways will be formed for the project. Railways, Thiruvananthapuram Division is responsible for creating / augmentation infrastructure, operation and maintenance etc. of the existing Railway Sytem.

Kannur International Airport is an upcoming International Airport under construction at Mattanur in Kannur District. Based on the demand of North Malabar region, Government of Kerala conceived the development of Kannur International Airport project as the 4 th International Airport for development and growth of North Malabar. It is being built on a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model by the Kannur International Airport Ltd (KIAL). Once completed it will be the second Greenfield airport to be set up in Kerala.
